Looking for Information? - Here is a great place to start

The library has over 70 databases available to help you find information you want on a variety of subjects including health, economics, history, literature, science and more. Access is completely free with a WPL library card.

When doing research, the Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) database is a great place to start as it provides detailed information that is easy to understand. GVRL provides access to over 200 encyclopedias and other reference books. It is a goldmine of information!

Here are just a few topics you can find information on:

· critical analysis of hundreds of books, short stories, plays and poems
· facts about countries and their cultures
· explanations of biomes, geology and scientific theory
· data about ancient civilizations
· weather almanac
· information about medical conditions, neurological disorders, genetic disorders, addictive behavior, drugs and controlled substances
· biographies of a notable sports figure, politicians, business leaders, philanthropists and more

There are two ways to search the GVRL. You can search by selecting a particular publication to browse through or you can do a keyword search. Doing a basic search generally results in an increase in results. For example, when doing a keyword search for information on Ancient Egypt you will get results in Encyclopedia of Clothing and Fashion, Encyclopedia of Bioethics, Science and its Times, Encyclopedia of Religion, Encyclopedia of Food and Culture, Encyclopedia of World Biography and more! You can then browse through the list of links to articles and choose which articles suit your interests.

To access the Gale Virtual Reference Library go to:
